Rock The Light
Last night 33Miles played one of my favorite festivals, Rock The Light. It is held at the Starlight Theater in Kansas City, one of the best outdoor theaters in the country. It was a great night. For those who were able to be there...thanks for coming out. The line-up was cool. Us, Decemberadio, Sanctus Real, and Casting Crowns. The crowd was awesome and 33 had a good time performing for our friends in KC. We missed my favorite part though. At the end of the night they usually pass out candles and everyone lights them and sings worship tunes. It is quite the sight. We were too tired to stay and see it. We headed out right before Casting took the stage. We were all in need of extra sleep to get ready to play Lifelight Festival in Sioux Falls, SD, tomorrow. The crowd is estimated to be 120,000, but no pressure right?

On The Night Shift
So last night 33Miles traveled thru the night to Kansas City, MO, to play Rock the Light (a festival). I took the 2am driving shift and drove the rest of the way. We arrived at 6:30am. I really do enjoy driving this shift. There are not many people on the road in the middle of night and I am more comfortable being behind the wheel in the wee morning hours than some of my bandmates. Sometimes it isn't that easy though. That's when I rely heavily on 3 things:
1. My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
2. The sweet prayers of my 4yr old, Jake.
"Lord Jesus, keep Daddy safe as he travels and bring him home safely to us."
3. Last and definitely least....RedBull
I know that it raises your heart rate and all that, but when you are in a bind I would say, "Go for it!" It is a great pick-me-up and even comes in sugar free which is my personal choice. All that to say that the night shift went well last night. Thank you Jesus! Thank you Jake! And thank you too, RedBull!

Managing a Birthday
I thought I would take this opportunity to say Happy Birthday to one of my managers, Gabe Vasquez! Gabe is an awesome manager and a great friend who is celebrating his birthday today by moving his management offices to the Berry Hill area of Nashville from Cool Springs. Working on his birthday...yep, that sounds just like something he would do. My managers work so hard. I am one lucky boy to be managed by Thomas-Vasquez Entertainment. Gabe is someone who believes in me more than I believe in myself and constantly uses his, what I like to call, "gentle push" to make me go beyond myself to accomplish things I didn't think were possible. We all need people like Gabe in our lives. Hats off to you, buddy! Happy Birthday!!! Rose Pepper?

The Monument Jog
The other day, 33Miles travelled thru the night to D.C. to spend a day off in our nation's capital. We arrived very early in the morning and I found it very hard to go to sleep so I decided to do something I have always wanted to do...go jogging in the Mall (which is that area in front of the Capital and between all the museums and monuments, etc...)! I embarked on a 2 hour run to experience D.C. like never before and had a blast! I ran to each major monument and would hang out for a few minutes taking pics and soaking in the history and then run to the next! I visited the Capital, Washington Monument, the White House, the Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Arlington Cemetery, FDR Memorial, and my personal favorite, the Jefferson Memorial. I was especially moved my the FDR Memorial. I had forgotten that he is the only president that served 4 terms. He had overcome great adversity in his handicap to inspire a nation during such an important time in American history. Not to mention he said some really cool things. Do you ever wish that you said things that sounded so inspired and intelligent that people would carve them into a monument one day? Me too, but that's a long shot for yours truly. It was a GREAT morning; although, my calves were killing me afterwards (due in part to new shoes) but it was totally worth it! I would highly recommend seeing D.C. this way!

Can I do this on a regular basis?
Ok, so after much thought I have decided to start a blog. Yes, me. I cannot believe that I am typing these words but you know when in Rome..... My only concern is having enough content and time to keep doing it so we will see. Stay tuned....
